I thought I'd start off my new blog with the obligatory Morning Musume Ranking post that just about every H!P fan blog has. Since it was Jacky that introduced this H!P goodness to me, this post is dedicated to her.

It has always been in my character to like the underdog, so that manifests itself in my tendency to choose the less "pushed" idols of the group. I'm a bit unconventional in that instead of becoming acquainted to the current generation, I looked backwards and worked from there.

1. Kamei Eri (亀井絵里)

What's not to love about her? If you don't like her, just look for Elizabeth Kyamei clips, it'll change your mind. Seeing her clips as Eric Kamezou and Sachi Usue on Hello Morning made me laugh pretty hard and shows off her versatility. She's one of the best dancers in Momusu and has a great singing voice as well. If that wasn't enough reason to like her, she's gorgeous! (not that there are any heffers in Momusu to begin with) She's definitely in the top 3 of my all-time H!P list, which I'll will have to get around to doing sometime.

2. Niigaki Risa (新垣里沙)

Mayuge BEAM! Gaki-san seems to be the most mature out of the bunch, although there is that one post Tanaka made about her reading those childish comics and the ringtones (see below), but Tanaka is a bitch. Risa's also got a great voice that isn't showcased enough. Unlike many of the other good singers in the group, she typically manages to keep her control during live performances. I can't wait to get the Happy Girl photobook, I've seen some pictures from it and it just makes me want it more!

3. Takahashi Ai (高橋愛)

Tettekete-te-te-re-te--. I don't care what people say, she still talks funny, but at least it gives her some character. "Hoppi de hoppu" (Feb 27, 2002 Utaban ep.) I recently downloaded a bunch of old Hello Pro News segments. I found the Takahashi Lovely portions pretty interesting, especially the ones where she favors Nakazawa over Ishikawa. She's the best singer of the group, by a long margin, what's not to like about that? At first, I really didn't agree with the haircut since she looked like an old lady in Onna ni Sachi Are. She's starting to look better again, sorta.

4. Junjun (ジュンジュン)

My favorite of the Pandas, mostly cause despite how she's a giant, she still really pretty. She can look really goofy in a lot of official pictures (i.e. the Resonant Blue single cover), but that just makes me like her more. She could be higher on this list if there were any translated Haromoni@ episodes I could watch.

5. Kusumi Koharu (久住小春)

Up Front, make up your mind! You give us the Koharu above and then you give the annoying Koharu-pinku. I would like her more if she wasn't shoved into my face all the time. I understand she's still young and all, but I just don't like her childish voice, cause well it's whiny. But I do like her more adult lower voice, it's quite soothing in Egao YES NUDE; so Tsunku, protip.

6. Mitsui Aika (光井愛佳)

Aika used to be a lot lower in this list. She got the shaft in terms of attention when the Chinese duo came in. The one thing I think that's helped her image recently is the haircut, which makes her look older. Making Junjun cry in the Haromoni@ episode was interesting as well. I like it when my idols aren't so idol-y all the time, plus a little drama never hurts.

7. Linlin (リンリン)

To be honest, I thought she looked weird at first, but she's slowly growing on me. I'm taking a liking (slowly) to her unique voice mostly because everyone one else in the group sounds the same (maybe with the exception of Ai, Koharu, and Sayumi but only cause Sayumi can't sing).

8. Tanaka Reina (田中れいな)

To quote Jacky, Reina's got "wonky eyes" and well she's a bitch. Perfect idol my ass. Maybe when she first joined, she was a perfect idol then. After reading the Pocket Morning where they ask what each member found funny in another member, I'll never see her the same. Her voice, it annoys me a little; not because the pitch is bad, but she has this weird loud/soft cycling. I like strong singers like Ai, and I still like weaker voices like Ishikawa and Konno, but I just don't like the tone changes.

9. Michishige Sayumi (道重さゆみ)

She can't sing, she likes herself too much, enough said. I find it little ironic that my favorite and most hated member are best friends. Just for the record, she's on the bottom my all-time H!P lists.
